BRAND NEW & UNSMOKED quarter bent eight panel
freehand straight grain pipe that was hand crafted by
Karsten Tarp.
Karsten Tarp learned his pipe making craft from
Viggo Nielsen, and has worked with Viggo’s son, Kai.
Kai is of the opinion that" Karsten Tarp is currently
the best carver in Denmark". Why do you almost NEVER
see a Tarp pipe available is the U.S.A.?
Because the Europeans are buying his great pipes and
his care with each pipe results in low numbers
produced each year.
The pipe that is
offered is such an
example of Karsten’s top level of craftsmanship. This
top of his line grade “A” pipe is both beautifully
grained and exquisitely carved. (This pipe strongly
reminds me of some of the paneled Larsen Pearl pipes
that Teddy Knudsen had crafted in the early 1980's.
The workmanship is on par, as well!) The coloring of
the hand crafted two tone Cumberland vulcanite stem
perfectly compliments the high contrast staining of
the bowl. Personally, I love this pipe, and I think
that you will too! It offers a very comfortable
balance and hand feel. The draft is nice and easy. A
pipe cleaner will glide to the bottom of the bowl. The
original box and black leather pipe bag are both
included.
Here are the dimensions of this beautiful pipe: The
overall length is about 5.875” The bowl height is
2.25”. The tobacco chamber measures 0.825” in diameter
and tapers down the bowl’s 1.675” inner depth.
Capacity is similar to that of a Dunhill Group 5 size
pipe. This pipe weighs 55 grams.
