| The Carvers | |

Each
month I would like to either Introduce a newer Carver or share
information about Carvers of the past. I am talking about past Carvers
who for any number of reasons are NOT well known to many
Collectors/Smokers. I would be grateful for any help you can offer.
As for newer Carvers I would be grateful if you suggest those who you feel deserve special consideration. Pictures and information about them would be very nice. I have started with a newer Carver I recently met at the 2008 Chicago Pipe Show, Maigurs Knets. Most of you have probably never heard of him.I believe his skills and ideas for designs will make you wish you had heard of him early before only the Rich and those willing to wait can get his pipes. Here is a small list of Carvers I would like to start with. In some cases I know very little about them. I will list one or two each Month. |
|
| 1. POUL HANSEN- Student of Sixten Ivarsson. Carver from the mid 1960s to mid 1990s | 2. R.Wood- Made pipes with the logo DRE, most I think in the 1970s and 1980s |
| 3. Bruce Weaver- Another Carver I met at the Chicago Pipe Show | 4. Charles Sharp- Former owner of fine Pipe Shop back East. Once carved a pipe for Clark Gable |
